 Narrative

The types of narratives consist of linear and non-linear. My own AS project is based on  a linear narrative which contains a simple story arc with the beginning, climax and ending without any flashbacks or flashforwards. The protagonist who's writing a manuscript talks about killing a ghost and living happily. However, at the same time some paranormal activity happens while the story remains unfinished... and someone else completes it with a completely different ending.

GENRE

M3GAN

A doll created to accompany the daughter of the creator, the mother soon realises that it does not have any differention between her enemies and friends. It goes to the extent that she cannot even talk to her daughter rudely, nor can anyone else because if they do... they'll have to face some serious consequences which may even be death! This film was not wholely based on horror, therefore, its plot was so enthralling as the usual paranormal activities don't take place, rather the film takes a sci-fi path. The movie effectively explores the consequences of creating powerful AI that could possibly surpass the human creator. It distinctly portrays the dangers of relying on technology as a replacement for human connection.

ANNABELLE

The film is set in the early 1950s and is part of a series that follow a non-linear timeline, serving as a prequel to the previously relased Conjuring movies. Annabelle tells the story of a doll created by Ed and Lorraine Warren. The eerie doll serves as the residence of a sprirt summoned by a demon-worshipping cult. When a couple is expecting their first child, the doll is brought as a gift for the mother. However, soon a series of events follow that lead to the doll being possessed by an evil spirit. Consequently, paranormal activities begin occuring that threaten the survival of the family, ultimately leading to the sacrifice of a soul for the demon. This movie never fails to send shivers of apprehension down the spine of the viewers and although its plot is quite usual, however it still stands out.The film explicitly demonstartes the consequences of individuals who get involved in satanic cults, leading to horrible repurcussions, not just for themselves but for the people around them too.

THE NUN

The Nun is a classical horror film set in 1952 Romania, exclusively featuring the devout Christian class. The film employs the image of a 'nun', an epitome of purity and good, to depict the embodiment of evil, deftly creating an eerie juxtapoition of purity and goodness against monstrosity and malovalence, generating the idea that even sacred can be corrupted with evil. The central character, Sister Irene, is shown to be continuously struggliung with her own real identity as she combats the demonic entity, effectively showcasing a deeper internal existential struggle while questioning one's own beliefs and morals. The film also very efficiently highlights how fear and self-doubt can itself lead to the manifestation of evil, as in the film, when the characters are terrorized, the demon grows powerful, again contrasting faith and doubt. These philosophical aspects of the film add another layer of thoughtful depth to the movie, making it all the more attractive yet scary to watch.

INSIDIOUS

The Insidious film series comprising of a total of 5 films, is set in different time zones, from 1953 to 2021, following a non-linear timeline. It fuses the horror genre with the physical concept of 'The Further', a purgatory realm where the souls of the terrorized deceased reside. The characters in one of the films are able to project their astral bodies into space while they sleep, introducing a mind-bending concept of astral projection and linking it to the horror realm by depicting horrific souls residing in the Further. The resolution of the film shows the protagonist facing their fear and subduing it, highlighting the fact that triumph lies beyond the shackles of fear and doubt. To overcome evil, one only needs fierce faith and ability to face their fears.  With this scientific concept linked to horror drama, the Insidious film is a treat to watch.

CONJURING

The Conjuring film aired on Cinema screens in 2013 but is set in the timeline of the 1970s. It introduces the main characters of the Conjuring Univerese, Ed and Lorraine Warren, where they are investigating the case of a huanted house. The film exclusively points out to the Catholic Church, as Ed is a certified demonologist from the Church, effectively highlighting the role of stringent faith against the power of evil. The film repeatedly brings the theme to light, conveying the message that a  strong belief in the heart can allow us to overpower all, any malovalent entity, any doubt, fear or evil. The film's plot, combined with commendable cinematography and exceptional acting skills of the cast has captivated audiences, event after more than 10 years of its release.

However, the script isn't left unfinished - as some other entity does it for him! Name suggestions As the story was based on a horror genre, the name had to be something spooky. I thought of multiple names such as "The last words" or "Tip-toed to death". However, these seemed to be too monotonous so I decided to choose a title which would have a word that engages the audience. After much consideration, I ended up on: The unfinished manuscript This suggested the audience that a manuscript was being written which is left "Unfinished". The word "Unfinished" particularly catches the eye of everyone and I've also decided to differentiate it by using a unique font.  Screenplay S...

As planned, the shoot was done and completed in the whole night and the editing was completed the next day. Filming and Lighting I filmed my movie with an Iphone 15 camera which has a 48 MP - 26 mm wide camera. Along with that we used a ring light to assist me as the scene had to be shot in the dark and it made my face clear. Also, the first shot I took, was not of the place I usually live. I captured that establishing shot some time ago when I went on a trip and that matched my film's ambience so I added it there. Most of lighting the film was lowkey to give a gloomy effect, but I also used chiaroscuro lighting at places too. Acting I was the protagonist as well...
